Computer Hardware Requirements
A minimum of 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB preferred. 200 MB of hard disk space plus room for digital photos (if Syrasoft Photo Capture Module purchased) is preferred. A CPU of 1.5 GHz or higher is recommended. If you are running Microsoft Vista Business Edition (32-bit), Windows 7 Professional (32-bit), Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit), or Windows 7 Enterprise (32-bit), 2GB of RAM is recommended. Operating Systems required are Microsoft Windows Server 2000 Standard Edition, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition, XP Professional (32-bit), Vista Business (32-bit), Windows 7 Professional (32-bit), Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) only. Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6 or higher. *Serial Port available for dial up credit card processing only.
*Syrasoft Automatic Credit Card Processing Package: Dial Up Processing
The internal modems that are currently standard to most computer hardware are not able to slow to the speed of bank networks (1200 baud or less). An external 56K modem with a serial connection is required for detecting the slower baud rate speed of credit card processing.
Syrasoft Automatic Credit Card Processing Package: TCP/IP Processing
If the credit card processing network has TCP/IP processing available and the property office has an Internet Service Provider or DSL line available, credit card processing can be done without the 56K External Modem requirement.
*Syrasoft Interface with Access Control Gate Software:
Access gate control hardware and software, in some cases, requires a Serial Port connection to the computer. Some of the access control manufacturers are compatible with USB/Serial Adaptors. Please check with your access control provider to see if they require a Serial or USB Port connection. Please check with your access control dealer/manufacturer for their specific requirements.
Printer:
If you need to print large numbers of statements, lengthy contracts, and reports you need a printer that has enough memory or proper settings to handle large print jobs.
Monitor:
A 14-17 inch monitor is typically standard equipment with new computer hardware. The size screen you have will impact how much of the Bird’s Eye View graphical facility map you can view at one time without having to scroll up, down, left or right. A larger screen, such as a 19 or 22-inch monitor screen would allow you to view more of the map area at one time. The capability to view part or the entire map area at one time is individual preference and does not impact software performance. Screens within Syrasoft are best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher.
Networking:
Syrasoft Management System software can be run on networked workstations with the purchase of the Syrasoft Networking Module. The Networking Module is included in the Professional Edition or may be purchased as add on software for the Light, Light Professional, or Standard Editions. Network hardware must be in place in order to install the Syrasoft Management Software on networked workstations.
Data Backup Media:
USB Drive, Zip Disks, and CDR or CDRW. Backup files can be emailed to main/home office/laptop locations as regular email attachments, using Syrasoft’s Email Software, and various connectivity options.
For Syrasoft Internet Manager Customer Online Payment software:
- Syrasoft Storage Management System Software
- Syrasoft Automatic Credit Card Payment Processing Package
- Broadband (cable or DSL) Internet access.
- A computer located in your property office that is running Internet Information Services (IIS). IIS allows you to run a publicly accessible website. You will find IIS on a computer with a Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Pro, Vista Business, Windows 7 Professional, or Windows Server operating system. You can access IIS by clicking Start, Run and typing inetmgr.
- You can run Syrasoft Internet Manager on the same computer that you run the Storage Management System software on or another networked computer in the same office.
- If your company already has a website maintained by a third party, you can continue to use this website. Your website would have to contain a link to your specific property location’s web address (your own static IP address, approximately $10.00 per address). You would need a link to your property’s specific web address, so transactions would go directly to your property’s own Syrasoft database. Here are a few of the companies where you can register a domain name for your website: www.networksolutions.com; www.register.com; www.godaddy.com .
- Your IIS needs to be configured with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) so the transactions passed over the wire from the website to the user are encrypted. To use SSL, you'll need to purchase a digital security certificate for your static IP web address. You can purchase this certificate from a variety of vendors (VeriSign is one of the most common) and they need to be periodically renewed. Syrasoft recommends you purchase a 128-bit digital certificate as this is the current industry standard used by banks for transactions on their websites. When you register for a digital security certificate you assume security responsibility of handling on-line credit card payments via your static IP address and your website then is secure when your customers enter it. Here are some companies where you can purchase a digital certificate: www.verisign.com; www.thawte.com; www.digicert.com.
